Kingston's First Date

Kingston loves Cameron's office. We have been there all together a few times, but the most notable was when we went there for a Halloween party. There was a lot of candy. I'm pretty sure that's enough to make any little boy fall in love with a place.

Cutest Date Ever

Life is crazy. There is always tons going on. Throughout the madness though, Cam and I have tried really hard to have dates with each of the kids once a month. They are really important, and mean a lot to us and to the kids!

This month was my month to go out with my girls. I took them both out for lunch and a treat. Britta just wanted ice cream this time, but since it was lunch time, and I knew we would just feel sick to our stomachs if we only ate sweets, we ate lunch first.

REAL snow!

I know there's been a bit of a snow overload on my blog the past week or so. I do hope it's allowed for me to post so many pictures of our snowy wonderland. Because, if it's wrong, I don't want to be right.

Yesterday we were told a big storm was coming through and we would have anywhere from 6 to 10 inches of snow. We weren't sure if they were going to deliver on that promise, but sure enough! Last night it started snowing around 9pm. After only an hour or so we had a good amount of snow outside already accumulating.

Laundry Helper

I'm going to have to teach him how to be a better laundry helper. Right now he just likes to roll around in the piles I've already folded. I wouldn't really mind if it didn't mean I then have to refold everything. It's a good thing he's so dang cute.

Everyone Needs One

Picture taken when we moved in last spring.
We live on a half acre lot here in North Carolina. It's not huge, but it's a good size. It's pretty evenly split between the back and front yards. In Texas our lot size was only slightly smaller, but for some reason, the electric mower we bought that worked fine there.... well, as long as you only did front or back at a time and didn't attempt to mow both in one day... it didn't even come close to doing the job here in North Carolina. Don't ask me why, but it couldn't even finish half of the front or back yard!

We realized pretty quickly that we were going to need to figure out an alternative. We were fortunate that our wonderful neighbor mowed our lawn with his riding mower for us on two separate occasions. I can't use a push mower ever since I hurt my back. Cameron has been really busy with work, and his weekends have been filled with all sorts of necessary tasks. In the meantime the yard was looking pretty shabby. We debated between hiring a lawn service to come out, and buying our own riding mower. We put off making a decision until after all the leaves had fallen from our many MANY trees. We just weren't sure what to do.

What a Dad Won't Do

You know those times where you use the front facing camera on your phone to entertain your two year old... with hilarious results? I love those times.

This one?
Or this one?
Anything for the boy.

I about died laughing.
And yes, I did get permission to post this.

Snow at Home

We've always lived in pretty temperate climates. I haven't lived in a place with regular snowfall since I was a little girl living in Utah. Normally we have to drive for hours to see snow in person. As you can imagine, we don't see it very often. So, when we don't have to drive anywhere at all, when we have snow fall at our very own home, it's an exciting event for sure!

Birthday Girl

A girl doesn't turn 33 every day. Birthdays are special. When I was a kid I think I thought that grownups didn't really care about their birthday. While I know that some adults see their birthday in a negative light, as a symbol of one less year they still have ahead of them, I don't see it that way. I see it as one more year full of awesome experiences. It's definitely a reason to celebrate.

Valentine Love

I know there are a lot of skeptics of Valentine's Day out there. Let me just say right away that I am not one of them. I like having a day where we are specifically supposed to focus on showing and telling those close to us how much we love them. It's kinda nice.

Down the Slopes

One of the awesome things about homeschooling is the many opportunities my kids have to try new things. We have enough time that, as long as I plan ahead, we can do all sorts of things! One of the things that I always wanted to do as a kid, but didn't have a chance until I was an adult, was to go skiing. I love the snow, and skiing always had this fun romantic appeal. I was thrilled when the opportunity presented itself for me to take my kids!
